The Projects & Development India Limited (PDIL) Recruitment 2025 is primarily a direct recruitment process based on experience and an interview. This means there is no formal written examination and, consequently, no standard syllabus in the way conventional competitive exams have them (like GATE or UPSC).
The "syllabus" you should focus on is the detailed technical knowledge and practical experience relevant to the post you are applying for.
Here is a breakdown of the selection process and the recommended preparation areas for the Personal Interview (PI), which is the sole basis for final selection:
The selection for the 87 Engineer and Diploma Engineer vacancies is a two-stage process:
Stage 1: Application Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted strictly based on their eligibility criteria, including:
Educational Qualification (Degree/Diploma in the relevant discipline with minimum marks).
Post-Qualification Experience (2, 5, or 8 years, depending on the Grade).
Age Limit.
Stage 2: Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview. The final merit list and selection are based entirely on performance in this Personal Interview.
Since the selection focuses on experience, your preparation should revolve around your core engineering discipline and your previous work experience, especially in relevant sectors like Fertilizer, Oil & Gas, Refinery, Chemicals, and Power.
This is the most critical area. Be prepared to answer questions on the fundamentals and advanced topics of your specific engineering branch.
| Discipline | Key Technical Topics to Review |
| Civil | Structural Analysis, RCC Design, Steel Structures, Construction Technology, Foundation Engineering, Project Management (for Construction roles). |
| Mechanical | Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Machine Design, Material Science, Manufacturing Processes, and specialized areas like Piping, Material Handling, or Pressure Vessels (based on the post). |
| Electrical | Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Switchgear and Protection, Control Systems, Equipment Sizing, and Construction/Erection standards (for Construction roles). |
| Process | Mass/Heat Transfer Operations, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Thermodynamics, Process Control, P&ID/PFD preparation, and knowledge of specific industry processes (Fertilizer/Refinery). |
| Instrumentation | Control Systems, Sensors & Transducers, Industrial Instrumentation, PLCs/DCS, Control Valve Sizing, and Field Instrument Selection. |
| Fire/Safety | Industrial Safety Standards (OSHA, OISD, etc.), Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), Fire Protection Systems (Active/Passive), and statutory requirements. |
| Materials Management | Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Inventory Management, Procurement/Tendering procedures, and negotiation skills. |
The interview panel will heavily focus on your work history, as the posts require significant experience (2 to 8 years). Be ready to discuss:
Your Projects: Detail the specific projects you have worked on (scope, your role, technical challenges, and solutions).
Specific Responsibilities: Explain your daily duties related to design, construction, inspection, or management, as advertised for the role.
Software Proficiency: Discuss your experience with industry-specific software (e.g., AutoCAD, PDS/PDMS, SAP, structural analysis tools, etc.).
Standards and Codes: Demonstrate knowledge of relevant national and international codes/standards used in the Fertilizer, Oil & Gas, and Chemical industries.
About PDIL: Know PDIL's core business areas (Fertilizers, Chemicals, Oil & Gas, Power), its status (Mini Ratna), and recent projects.
PSU/Consultancy Work: Understand the difference between working for a PSU consultancy like PDIL versus a private EPC company.
General Awareness: Be aware of the current trends and major developments in the Indian industrial sector, particularly in the fertilizer and oil & gas space.
In summary, treat your resume and the official PDIL job description as your "syllabus." Prepare to justify every qualification and experience point listed on your application.
