III. Detailed Eligibility Criteria 🎓

A. Educational Qualification:

  • Qualifying Year: Candidates must have passed their qualifying examination in the years 2023, 2024, or 2025 only.

  • Technician (Diploma) Apprentice: Must hold a full-time Diploma in the relevant Engineering/Technology discipline from a State Council or Board of Technical Education.

  • Graduate (Degree) Apprentice: Must hold a full-time Degree (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc./BCA/B.Com/BLIS) in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or institution.

B. Experience/Prior Training Restriction:

  • Candidates must not have prior work experience of one year or more.

  • Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act elsewhere are not eligible to apply.

C. Age Limit (as on 27.10.2025):

  • Technician (Diploma) Apprentice: Minimum 18 years and Maximum 24 years.

  • Graduate (Degree) Apprentice: Minimum 21 years and Maximum 26 years.

D. Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation.

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation.

  • Persons with Disability (PWD): Up to 10 years (13 for OBC, 15 for SC/ST).


IV. Stipend and Financial Benefits 💰

V. Selection and Application Process 📝

A. Selection Procedure:

  • The selection will be based only on the performance in the Walk-in Interview.

  • In case the number of candidates is high, the selection committee may adopt a shortlisting criterion based on academic merit before the interview.

B. Mandatory Two-Part Application Steps:

Step 1: NATS Portal Registration (Mandatory Pre-Interview Step)

  1. Go to the official NATS website: nats.education.gov.in.

  2. Click “Enroll” and complete the registration to generate a unique Enrolment Number.

  3. Wait for your enrolment to be verified and approved (this may take up to a day).

  4. Once approved, log in, go to the “Establishment Request Menu,” click “Find Establishment,” search for “NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF OCEAN TECHNOLOGY,” and click “Apply.”

Step 2: Attending the Walk-in Interview

  1. Download and fill the official Application Form PDF.

  2. Gather all the required documents (originals and one set of self-attested photocopies).

  3. Report to the NIOT campus at the specified address by 08:30 AM on 27th October 2025.

C. Documents to Bring (Originals and Self-Attested Photocopies):

  1. Duly filled-in Application Form.

  2. All Original Certificates and Mark Sheets (10th, 12th, Diploma/Degree).

  3. Aadhaar Card.

  4. Proof of Date of Birth (SSLC/HSC Certificate).

  5. Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) in the prescribed format, if applicable.

  6. A recent passport-size color photograph.

  7. Copy of the NATS Portal Enrolment Number/Registration confirmation.
