The cutoff for the ICG Stage I exam is determined by several factors, including the total number of vacancies, the performance of candidates, and the difficulty level of the paper.
It is important to understand the minimum Passing Marks for the written exam, as mandated by the ICG:
| Post | Category | Section I (Max 60) | Section II (Max 50) | Total Passing Marks |
| Navik (DB) | UR/EWS/OBC | 30 | N/A | 30 |
| SC/ST | 27 | N/A | 27 | |
| Navik (GD) | UR/EWS/OBC | 30 | 20 | 50 |
| SC/ST | 27 | 17 | 44 |
Note: Candidates for Navik (GD) must pass both Section I and Section II separately.
While the official final merit cutoff for shortlisting candidates to Stage II is generally higher than the minimum passing marks, here is an indication of the marks required for final selection based on previous trends (The official marks for 01/2026 & 02/2026 will be available on your individual login):
| Category | Navik (GD) Expected Cut-Off Range (Out of 110) | Navik (DB) Expected Cut-Off Range (Out of 60) |
| UR (General) | 80+ | 48+ |
| OBC | 77+ | 45+ |
| EWS | 74+ | 43+ |
| SC | 70+ | 40+ |
| ST | 65+ | 35+ |
Disclaimer: These are historical and expected figures; the final official cut-off list is available on the candidate's portal.
