The selection process is multi-tiered and varies by post:
Tier 1: Written Test
Scientist/Engineer: Includes discipline-specific questions, aptitude/ability tests, and potentially descriptive questions. Subject to negative marking.
Technical & Other Posts: Consists of 80 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 1.5 hours, with negative marking.
Tier 2: Skill Test / Interview
Scientist/Engineer: Candidates are called for an Interview. Final selection is based on weightage for Written Test marks and
weightage for Interview marks.
Technical Assistant, Technician, etc.: Shortlisted candidates undergo a Skill Test which is purely qualifying in nature ('go-no-go' basis). Final selection is based solely on the marks scored in the Written Test.
Driver/Fireman: Involves a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and/or a Driving Test in addition to the written exam.
The application fee is post-category dependent and includes a refundable component for candidates who appear for the written test.
