VI. Selection Process

The selection process is multi-tiered and varies by post:

  1. Tier 1: Written Test

    • Scientist/Engineer: Includes discipline-specific questions, aptitude/ability tests, and potentially descriptive questions. Subject to negative marking.

    • Technical & Other Posts: Consists of 80 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 1.5 hours, with negative marking.

  2. Tier 2: Skill Test / Interview

    • Scientist/Engineer: Candidates are called for an Interview. Final selection is based on weightage for Written Test marks and weightage for Interview marks.

    • Technical Assistant, Technician, etc.: Shortlisted candidates undergo a Skill Test which is purely qualifying in nature ('go-no-go' basis). Final selection is based solely on the marks scored in the Written Test.

    • Driver/Fireman: Involves a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and/or a Driving Test in addition to the written exam.
